Our local businesses that take the pledge are committing to help stop the spread of COVID-19. Through safety standards outlined by the CDC, Illinois Department of Public Health, and the Champaign-Urbana Public Health District, they will ensure the safety of their customers and their employees.

Require and encourage face coverings by unvaccinated staff and customers, if medically able.

Clean Hands

Implement protocols for increased hand-washing from staff, as well as hand-sanitizing stations or hand-washing available for customers.

Sanitization

Surfaces, equipment, and other elements of the business environment are regularly cleaned and disinfected.

Social Distance

Reduced occupancy to ensure social distancing guidelines of six feet.

Public Health Guidelines

Adherence to all orders and directives issued by Centers for Disease Control, Illinois Department of Public Health, and the Champaign-Urbana Public Health District.

Building Safety During COVID-19

The Smart Energy Design Assistance Center (SEDAC), an applied research program at the University of Illinois, released information offering suggestions for simple things you can do to make your business space safer and to reduce the risk of airborne pathogen transmission, including COVID-19. Note, these are recommendations only to reduce the risk of transmission but do not eliminate it. They are not intended to encourage or discourage business opening, but provide information on how to operate safely under current circumstances.
